Ruhala classes, ensembles and programs are built on the idea that art is natural for children and important in their lives. As we are in our final days of registering and preparing for our Fall 2014 session we want to express our philosophy of teaching children in the arts and invite you and your children to come join us!
EXPERIENCE
Ruhala believes children learn by experience first and foremost and therefore we aim to provide rich experiences for them to play in. "Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment."

Play is becoming a fashionable, scientific part of education these days and the arts have always been deeply connected to play. "Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities."

RIGHT & WRONG
At Ruhala, we emphasize there is no right or wrong in art but just individual expression; which ought not be judged. This frees the child to live out their inner world without fear. "There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so."

IMAGINATION
Kids and adults alike empathize with our good friend Harry Potter and the glorious imaginative rides he takes us on. Ruhala theatre and dance classes are designed to bring out the imaginations of the students. "Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power to imagine that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared."
