The Hurst/Olds Club of Americais celebrating the 50th anniversary of the introduction of these cars by holding their 34th National Meet in Lansing, the hometown of Oldsmobile. A Hurst/Olds is an ultimate muscle car built by Oldsmobile in 10 select years from 1968-1988. The event is July 19-21, 2018.
The evening of Friday the 20th we will be at the R. E. Olds Museum for a "Night at the Museum." As in the movie.....after dark things will come alive in this case it will be characters. We are planning to have people representing the decades of Oldsmobile production as well as Mr. & Mrs. Olds. As an example there will be a flapper for the 20s-30s era; GI Joe and Rosie the Riveter for the 40s; Fonzie and a teeny bopper for the 50s, etc. This event will raise money for the museum by admissions and donations.
The reason we are contacting you is for help!We are looking for an actor and actress to portray 2 people that were instrumental in the advertising of these cars, Doc Watson and Linda Vaughn. Both of these people were very outgoing and "people persons!". Linda was a Marilyn Monroe type both in looks and sex-appeal (blond bombshells).
Each of our characters will have informational cards, similar to baseball trading cards, to hand out to visitors and will also be keeping an eye on the cars during the event from 6 pm -9 pm. We will also provide each character a few "key" phrases or information about the era they represent, in case questions are asked. Mostly it is just a meet and greet kind of thing.
At 6 pm we will provide pizza for the characters, before the arrival of the guests, and allow them time to get dressed. We expect to open the museum at 7 pm. Since this is a fundraiser for the museum we are hoping for volunteers. If that isn't possible, we could arrange for payment.
If you have any additional questions, I would be happy to talk with you.
