is a touching Christmas classic full of some important life lessons.
The fully staged version of the classic holiday movie It’s a Wonderful Life, adapted by Philip Grecian, will bring George Bailey, his family, friends and the town of Bedford Falls to life on the Starlight Theatre stage beginning Friday, December 1. Adapted from the movie, the story concerns George Bailey, who, when on the verge of suicide due to his perceived life failures, is shown an alternate reality of what life would have been like if he were never born.
The beloved Everyman, George Bailey played by Mark Polzin, who had dreams of adventure and travel has given his entire life to his community, only to have it unravel through the machinations of the selfish banker Mr. Potter (Douglas Hoy). In his despair, George questions whether it would have been better had he never been born. Clarence (Paul Levandowski), a befuddled angel who hasn’t earned his wings yet, arrives to show him exactly what this wish might really mean.
Directing this large cast of 14, many playing multiple roles, is David Brooks, with Ruth Howard serving as Assistant Director and Stage Manager. The production features Stephanie Spagnuolo Vosburgh as Mary, George’s wife; Mark Bethea as Uncle Billy, Angela Gardner* as Violet, Laura Brooks* (Mother Bailey), Jacob Cook* (Harry Bailey), Frank Boston* (Mr. Gower), Julie Hartley* (Secretary Tilley) and Bert* and Ernie* (Matt Lorenz and Jacob Cook respectively).
