LCC’s annual spring dance concert pays tribute to the royalty of 20th century music. Nine dances by faculty, alumni and student choreographers celebrate the King of Rock ‘n Roll – Elvis Presley, the Queen of Soul – Michigan's own Aretha Franklin, the King of Pop – Michael Jackson, and Freddie Mercury of the British rock band, Queen.
“Their flamboyant stage persona, powerful vocals and significant contributions to music have made them global figures in popular culture,” said director Vickie Diebold. “They are four of the greatest performers of all time, and their distinctive sounds and styles have given them a special place in the hearts and minds of millions of fans.”
In addition to Diebold, faculty choreographers include Elzbieta Alabuszew-Kutek, Erin Falsetta-Petkovski, D’Onna Jacot and Roberta Otten. Alumni choreographers contributing work are Lauren Mudry, Angela Rich and Lisa Whiting-Dobson, with Amanda Green earning the student choreographer opportunity. Their work is in a variety of styles including ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap and hip-hop, and will be performed by a 27-member dance company of LCC students.
