Kelly Stuible directs the spring Musical Scenes Showcase featuring an all-star cast performing scenes and songs from a dozen different musicals. Local stages are already “home” for many of these students who are experienced performers such as Doak Bloss, Scott Laban, Erin Hoffman, Mary Maurer, Joe Quick and Racheal Raymer. Others are also frequently involved with area theatre including Erin Biel, Kat Cooper, Ben English, Molly Epstein, Carin McEvoy, Angharad McGaughey, Leo Poroshin, Becca Williams and Christian Wojtowicz.
LCC’s semester-long Music Scenes class teaches and builds on basic skills, allows students to collaborate, and then block their own scenes. “It's been a really exciting process, as we workshop the scenes and give critiques each week,” said Stuible. “With a wide variety of experiences, ages, skill level, and background, we've had a lot of fun working to create this final showcase."
Songs include Opening: The New World from Songs For a New World, I Have Danced from Titanic, The Musical, Some Things Are Meant to Be fromLittle Women, Come Out of the Dumpster from Wedding Singer, We Can Do Itfrom The Producers, Something To Believe In from Newsies, Blood In the Water from Legally Blonde, Love Is My Legs from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,My Child from Blood Brothers, Light My Candle from RENT, Master Of the House from Les Miserables, and a closing number with the full company.
