The Audio Air Force is presenting the network radio version of the musical "Meet Me in St Louis" this weekend at the Robin Theatre in REO Town. This is done live on stage as it would have been done on live radio back then. Audio theater is different than a stage in that all of the action goes on in your 'mind's eye'... which is called "theater of the mind". The actors, music and sound effects done live on stage "paint" a picture and tell a story.
The movie studios would sponsor radio versions of movies that were going to released, or re-released. The Audio Air Force will be using the original script from 1946, and will also include the songs that were featured in the radio broadcast. You'll see (hear) many actors that you will recognize from community theater in the area and other AAF shows - Mara McGill, Rachael Dec, Jim Coyer, Colleen Bethea, Chuck Krafft, Daedalian Lowry, Mark Chamberlin, Tom DeWitt, Dave Downing.
There will be two performances - Friday April 21 at 7pm and Saturday at 2pm.
