This semester is a little different, as it will be a workshop-style class focusing on two and three person scenes. This course is intended for singing actors and acting singers alike- we'll work on solo numbers as well as the scenes. If you're an actor that is afraid to try musicals, this class is for you. If you're a singer who doesn't think they have the acting chops to audition for a show, this class is for you. The work we do will culminate in a public performance. Class will meet on Wednesday evenings from 7-10 pm.
This is the same class, technically, that Janine Novenske Smith has taught -- however, the end product/showcase will be a smaller, scene-oriented, scaled-back show on the black box stage. We're tying to set up a sequence between Connie's class, my class, and then Janine's class (she's going to teach it alternating years in the spring). I think it's going to be an exciting progression for the LCC students, and offer more opportunity for community actors that want to pop in and take a class with less focus on end product!
Regular LCC credit and non-credit/community enrollment options are available, so if you'd like to advance your musical theatre skills but aren't a student you're invited to join our class. All ages, experience levels, and styles welcome. There is no formal audition, but you do need department approval for the class so please contact instructor Kelly Stuible at [email protected] if you're interested.
