The Four Disgracers are meditations on engravings by the 16th Century Dutch engraver, Hendrick Goltzius. The engravings represent four fallen figures from Greek mythology: Icarus, Ixion, Phaeton and Tantalus. (More information on the engravings can be found here: http://www.dia.org/auxiliaries/5/23/GAC/recent-acquisitions.aspx.
The four scripts are being written by local playwrights and actors: Sarah Hauck, Oralya Garza, A.S. Freeman and Brad Rutledge. Each has taken a myth or its meaning and developed a contemporary story based upon it.
The staged reading is being coordinated by Ixion Artistic Director, jeff croff. jeff returns to the Lansing theatre community after a three year hiatus. He was formerly the artistic director for Icarus Falling Theatre Ensemble, which had a ten year run in Lansing.
