Ripples reviewer Bruce Bennnett also hopes the crowds will grow this weekend for this fun show. Says Bruce, in part:
"...Director Dan Pappas did some reworking himself, to make Riverwalk's production much more like the film version, although still using the Broadway script by Harry Kurnitz, (which itself was a reworking of "L' Idiote" by Marcel Achard).
And that worked pretty well. Because Evan Pinsonnault is willing be truly ridiculous for a laugh. Evan did dozens of slips, stumbles, pratfalls, missteps, misplacements and mispronounciations, all to get as many laughs as possible beyond the laughs already in the dialogue- which he also did pretty well with. Evan's become a Lansing theatre treasure. His Magistrate Sevigne was a wonderful "idiote." Steve Ledyard, as Sevigne's right-hand man, Morestan, was onstage almost the entire show, listening and jotting notes. Steve did a fantastic job of "listening funny," a truly difficult acting challenge...A very fun show, that I hope got much larger audiences all the other nights of the run!"
