11/10 - “Singers on The Grand” Brings “The Wonder of Music” to the Wilson Center in St. Johns
Kicking off their 21st season, the Singers on the Grand ensemble returns to St. Johns with a musical variety show at the Wilson Center Auditorium, 101 W. Cass St. on Saturday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m.
The concert will be filled with classic pop, jazz, and Broadway standards which include song medleys celebrating the music of Stevie Wonder and Duke Ellington as well as other favorites like “I’m Beginning To See The Light,” “Dancing Queen,” “Paper Moon,” and “How Deep Is The Ocean?” Also, as is their tradition, they will perform two gospel/inspirational pieces, “Blow Gabriel Blow,” and “For the Beauty of the Earth.”
Katy Brandon McDonough and Charlie Martin direct the collaborative ensemble from Grand Ledge, and the performance will include a wide array of music through solos, duets, small groups and the close harmonies of the ten-vocalist chorus accompanied by the talented six-piece Grand Band. This season is a special tribute to the group’s founder Libby Brandon, who helped choose much of the music before passing away in August.
The Singers on The Grand ensemble vocalists include Bill Atkin, James Hall, Jessica Lesse, Charlie Martin, Dorothea Floeter Martin, Katy Brandon McDonough, Kelly Sandula-Gruner, Kaley Rahl, Dave Sincox, and Dan Templin. The Grand Band instrumentalists are Don Farnum, Bill Holda, Pete Murthum, Rick Peterson, Daniel Rahl, and John Ross.
