Wharton Center is energizing the season with new ways to engage all our audiences and heighten the learning experience. We know patrons love our pre- and post-show talks, so we’ve refined them even more. These special engagement opportunities include such pre-show events as Spotlight Dinners (formerly Preview Dinners), where patrons can enjoy a buffet dinner and engage with knowledgeable guest speakers or members of the performance company of selected shows, andInsight Previews (formerly Preview Lectures), free informative talks presented by topic experts who provide unique insights into the performance. Wharton Center is also adding After Chats following select performances: free, post-show conversations with members of a touring company. And this season, we are also starting a new social group of active professionals and creative minds called Next Gen @ Wharton Center. It’s being designed to connect members with new and existing friends and to engage with Wharton Center in innovative and unique ways, including behind-the-scenes events, artist meet-ups and one-of-a-kind social opportunities.

The smash hit DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST takes the stage in early 2014 followed by THE GERSHWIN’S PORGY AND BESS. Then, nine-time Tony Award-winning THE BOOK OF MORMON wraps up the season in June. On top of this stellar Broadway lineup, add this year’s special Broadway event – one of the most requested Broadway shows – MAMMA MIA! at Wharton Center for three days in November.
The 2013-2014 Season wouldn’t be complete without a lineup of world-renowned performing artists, such as Johnny Mathis, cellist Yo-Yo Ma with Kathryn Stott, The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and dance phenomenon Pilobolus.

This season there will be plenty such programs, including Artists-in-Residence programs, Take It From The Top, the Young Playwrights Festival, the Act One School and Family Series performances, and much more. In November, Wharton Center presents THE SHAPE OF A GIRL, a play by Joan Macleod that examines the frightening realities of teenage bullying and a young woman’s battle with inaction.
