The Yale Whiffenpoofs, America’s oldest collegiate a cappella group, will perform Tuesday October 26th at Unity Spiritual Center of Lansing. Doors will open at 6:30 for a 7 pm performance. Tickets are available online at https://www.whiffenpoofs.com/lansing. General admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students.
The Whiffenpoofs are ending their fall tour in Michigan, home of Samantha White one of three non-male singers in the group. 2018 was the first year non-male members were admitted to the group. An alum of East Lansing High School, Samantha is excited to bring the Whiffenpoofs to her hometown with the help of her high school choir director, Jeff English. While in high school, Samantha was an active member in the Theater community and a member the East Lansing High School Choir, known as the EL-singers.
Since their founding in 1909, the Whiffenpoofs have performed in all corners of the globe. Past iterations have performed for US Presidents and sung at Broadway’s Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. In recent years the Whiffs have been featured on television shows like “Glee”, “The Sing Off”, and “West Wing”.
The Whiffs are privileged to bring their diverse repertoire of vocal jazz, folk, pop, and Broadway hits to more than two hundred audiences each year, including Lansing.
Other Michigan stops include a public performance in Ann Arbor at the First Presbyterian Church from 7 to 8:30 pm on October 27 and one in Bloomfield Hills at Christ Church Cranbrook from 7 to 8:30 pm on October 28.
