WOW — I’m amazed at the music quality, considering all had to record themselves separately — and the look and feel? Like a movie, thanks to dramatic, “choreographic" video editing by the dedicated and creative Matt Ottinger — with some pretty impressive “b-roll” that goes literally above and beyond the dancing boxes of singers/actors.
I have loved this musical since I first saw it at the Okemos Barn in the 80’s. This new version is updated with music from Stephen Schwartz, Lin-Manuel Miranda, James Taylor and others. Based on Stud Terkel’s book, the show celebrates various jobs and how they connect characters to their humanity and the world. Can’t wait to see it this Friday. I’ve already got my “virtual ticket”.
This is how it works. Go to http://Riverwalktheatre.com and click on the link that takes you to ShowTix4U, where you will enter your email and credit card info. You will receive an email with a link, which is your “ticket.” Just prior to show time, you click that link and voila: curtain up on an amazing video experience. Tickets $25 plus $3-something in fees — and well worth it, if this first clip is any indication. If you need help with this ticketing process, call Mike at the office 517-482-5700.
Just like a live, in-person show, YOU MUST WATCH AT YOUR SPECIFIC, PURCHASED SHOW TIME/DATE.
6 showings: May 21-22-23 & 28-29-30, 8pm Fridays & Saturdays; 2pm Sundays. Since there are royalties for this show (unlike A Doll’s House) it will not be re-broadcast later. DON’T MISS THIS SHOW. I’m hoping it is the best-and-last pandemic-video, paving the way for us all to get back together live, in-theatre!
